This professional development provides an opportunity for teachers to learn how to use good questions to prompt and encourage students to demonstrate higher order thinking (HOT) as categorized by Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy and understand and use their depth of knowledge in different contexts as designated by Webb’s Depth-of-Knowledge (DOK) levels. Questioning is a tool to hook student curiosity to learn, assess and build foundational knowledge and deepen understanding.

Erik specializes in teaching and learning that promotes cognitive rigor and postsecondary (college and career) readiness. He is the author of Now THAT’S a Good Question! How to Promote Cognitive Rigor Through Classroom Questioning (ASCD).

Erik has over 25 years of experience working in education as a classroom teacher, an administrator, a state education agency program specialist, a professional development provider and a consultant for several education associations.
