The Literacy Coaches Collaborative

A year-long professional development series for district teams of an administrator and one or more literacy coaches supporting teachers grades K-12. The goal is to build local capacity to lead Ohio’s Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement. District literacy teams applied and were selected in May 2021.

HSTW/MMGW district literacy teams that have been invited are required to attend all eight sessions beginning August 10-11. HSTW NE Ohio Region invited districts to apply in Spring 2020, and district literacy teams have been invited

If a district is still Interested in participating, contact the regional office no later than July 27, and be prepared to send a team to the August 10 and 11 initial sessions.

The Literacy Coaches Collaborative Sessions will be facilitated by Olivia Weisman, Literacy Consultant, Education Service Center of Lorain County. Amanda Kortright, Regional Lead Coach; Barb Baltrinic and Angela Smith, HSTW/MMGW Literacy Coaches will assist with the training sessions and oversee the district literacy coaches.

As a result of the Literacy Coaches Collaborative, participants will be able to:

● Lead a district or building literacy initiative, Local Literacy Plan, and task force

● Provide ongoing support for teachers through professional learning, coaching, and modeling in the classroom

● Participate in a HSTW NE Ohio Region network of literacy coaches to build regional leadership capacity for literacy among HSTW/MMGW sites
